The cultivation of medicinal plants
Valerian creates a light and pleasant air to breathe. This property of Valerian is due to the presence in it, first of all, essential oils. The healing properties of elecampane has long been known. Avicenna recommended it for inflammation of the sciatic nerve and pain in the joints in the form of all types of medicinal roots and leaves. The Russian name “nard” was because it was attributed with magical powers from nine diseases. In the middle ages about its medicinal properties described in the poems. In modern medicine as medicinal raw materials use the rhizome and roots. Substance contained therein has expectorant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antihelmintic action. It is used in diseases of the respiratory tract, the gastrointestinal tract, is recommended for irregular painful menstruation. Decoctions and infusions of roots and rhizomes act favorably in diseases of the kidneys, liver, hemorrhoids. Use it in the treatment of tuberculosis, skin rashes,sore throat, epilepsy, bites of poisonous snakes. Fresh leaves applied to erysipelatous spots, tumors, difficult to heal ulcers and purulent wounds. From the leaves of elecampane prepare decoctions for baths, used for scrofula.
Elecampane is well propagated by seeds, but can be quickly propagated by rhizomes. Grow it on the plot makes no difficulties.
In nature, cyanosis blue (cyanosis azure, azure, St. John’s wort blue, next sinyushnik) occurs in the European part of Russia, Western and Eastern Siberia. Grows we have about 15 species.
Decoctions and infusions of cyanosis is used as an expectorant for bronchitis, as a sedative and analgesic for gastric ulcer (together with the infusion of cudweed), widely used also in diseases of domestic animals.
Place the cyanosis is better in lower, more humid part, as this plant is water-loving and in nature most often found in wet places and along river banks.
